Putting a SNAG in Wellness

Sep 24, 2013

Jaymie had a good round!
On Tuesday, September 17, 2013, the Swindoll, Janzen, Hawk & Loyd, LLC staff closed early and enjoyed the nice weather. Most staff from both McPherson and Hutchinson offices were able to enjoy an outing on the golf course that promoted wellness and team building. Employees participated in what is called SNAG Golf, which stands for Starting New At Golf. This program helps teach the game of golf to people of all ages and ability levels. SNAG is a proven player development program that contains all elements of golf, but in a modified form. We are very lucky to have this program in our area. And take it from SJHL, it is fun!

John Hastert, the PGA Professional at Turkey Creek Golf Course in McPherson was kind enough to organize the event and help us get the hang of it. We rotated in groups through four stations John set up; rolling, chipping, pitching and launching. And just like the real game of golf, the lower the score the better. After everyone went through each station three times we tallied the scores and the winners were…drum roll…Janna Stegmaier - 1st place, Andrew Bohme - 2nd place, Luke Logan - 3rd place and Kandy Graber - 4th place. Two of our top placers had never even played golf before! Turkey Creek gave our four winners a sleeve of golf balls each so they can keep practicing their new hobby. Janna, Andrew and Luke also received an additional wellness prize through SJHL's wellness program.
Our winners!
SNAG was brought to McPherson with the help of generous sponsors including the PGA, Midway Motors, Optimist Club and Peoples Bank & Trust. This program is being implemented into the school's physical education classes in order to give children an early look at the sport of golf. If you would like more information on SNAG, you can visit the website http://www.snaggolf.com/ or contact John at Turkey Creek (620) 241-8530. The course is located at 1000 Fox Run Drive, McPherson, KS.
