Bowling for the Kids

Apr 21, 2012

Before tornadoes began hitting the area Saturday, Swindoll, Janzen, Hawk & Loyd, LLC took to the lanes at Starlite for Bowl for Kids' Sake. SJHL formed a team to raise money for both McPherson and Reno counties' Big Brothers Big Sisters. The team consisted of partner Keith Janzen, Kala Bruce, Jackie Christiansen, Courtney Rierson and Johnna Vosseller.

Taylor Bruce trying a new strategy.
Bowl for Kids' Sake is probably the biggest fundraiser Big Brothers Big Sisters puts on each year. Teams sign up to bowl and help raise money for the organization. The funds that are raised go directly toward matching children with volunteer "Bigs." Bowling is basically the kick-off to the fundraiser, as funds can be raised before or after the event. "This is such a fun event because not only are we helping out such a great cause, but we get to spend some fun time with coworkers and their families," said Kala Bruce.

Because all other teams bowling on Saturday were supposed to come from Hutchinson
Keith in his back swing.they decided not to due to the weather, so SJHL was the only Bowl for Kids' Sake group bowling at that time. This left room to have another lane for family that came to support the bowlers. The group decided to only play two games in order to get home before the bad weather hit, but they definitely made the most of it. Although we will not be releasing any actual scores, we will say that Keith is definitely the star bowler for SJHL! Check out our team page.

We hope everyone stayed safe over the weekend and did not experience much, if any, damage due to the storms.
