SJHL and M.A.C.C.C. Bring the Thunder

Although the Midwest was hit hard this past weekend with storms and tornadoes, this is not the Thunder we are referencing. Friday, April 13th was Game 1 of the Berry Conference Finals for the Wichita Thunder Hockey team. This was the start of a 7 game series against the Texas Brahmas. The McPherson Arts Council Children's Choir was asked to come back for the second time this season and sing the National Anthem. Some of Swindoll, Janzen, Hawk & Loyd's staffers decided to attend to cheer on the Thunder and the choir, as Taylor Bruce is a member of the choir. Taylor is the daughter of SJHL's Kala Bruce.

The last few minutes of the game.
At 7:00 p.m. M.A.C.C.C. got the game started right by singing the National Anthem beautifully. Texas was the first to score, but that would be the only time all night. After three very competitive periods of hockey, the Thunder won the first game of the series 3 to 1.

Those that attended the Thunder game from SJHL, other than Kala and her family, were Vicki Courtney, Jackie Christiansen, Johnna Vosseller and her husband Dustin Murry. The whole crew had a wonderful time hearing Taylor and the choir sing, eating Carlos O'Kelley's at Intrust Bank Arena and cheering on the Thunder!

The Thunder also beat Texas Sunday 8 to 1 at Intrust Bank Arena. The two teams faced off again last night in Texas, but the Thunder was defeated 3 to 2. They will play again in Texas Friday night. Congratulations again to M.A.C.C.C.!
And the Thunder win!
