SJHL Gets Fit

Dec 21, 2011

Julie Huxman and Katie HanzlicekIn October, Swindoll, Janzen, Hawk & Loyd, LLC began an inter-office "Winter Workout Challenge." Those participating are split into teams of 3 and earn a point for every 15 minutes they workout. There are monthly team prizes and at the end of the 3 month challenge, the winning team will win a grand prize and a drawing will be done for an individual grand prize. Each participant gets their name in the drawing 1 time for every 15 points they earn. This program has helped a few staff get extra motivated and participate in some 5k races.

On October 22nd, Julie Huxman and her sister Katie Hanzlicek participated as Kool-Aid and Oscar the Grouch in the 16th Annual Pumpkin Run put on by Wichita State University in Wichita, KS. Many of the runners were in costume Katie Sawyer and Jackie Christiansenbecause there was a costume contest that took place during the awards ceremony.

On November 5th, Jackie Christiansen and her friend Katie Sawyer with King Enterprise Group participated in the McPherson Family YMCA/United Way 5k in McPherson, KS. Their efforts may have been a bit counter-productive as they ended their run with a stop at the doughnut shop, but they earned it. All proceeds from the race were donated to the McPherson County United Way.

Jenny Lang and Johnna Vosseller
On December 3rd, Jenny Lang and Johnna Vosseller participated in the 3rd Annual Thin Mint Sprint in Hays, KS. Girl Scouts are challenged to log 23 miles (walking, running, skipping, etc.) prior to race day, then complete the 5k to earn their Marathon Patch. Johnna participated to support her troop, as she is a Girl Scout Troop Leader.

We will let you know the winning team of the Winter Workout Challenge in January. Good luck to all of the participants!
