Sold to the Highest Bidder

Dec 4, 2011

Swindoll, Janzen, Hawk & Loyd, LLC found a fun and unique way to raise money for the McPherson County Community Foundation. Rather than throwing out and recycling some retired laptops, they were sold in a silent auction. SJHL staffers competed for the highest bid to the very last second before the auction closed at noon on November 16th.

MCCF was established in 2001 with the purpose to build charitable endowments and serve donors. Donors are encouraged to create funds that reflect their charitable goals. MCCF makes grants to enhance the quality of life in the community. Grants may benefit youth, education, arts and culture, human services, health care, or other charitable purposes as designated by donors.

The total amount raised through the auction was $615. All proceeds from the laptop sales were then matched by the SJHL partners, making the total contribution to SJHL fund at the MCCF $1,230! Overall, seven staff members won ten laptops. Congratulations to the winners: Carol Caster, Courtney Rierson, Sue Regier, Vicki Courtney, Rick Tuxhorn, Marie Shields and Stephanie Thurman.
